Mid Winter

I suppose a blog is a way to figure out if your life is any different than anyone else's. My daughter has one...I asked her when she found time to write it. Today I figured it out. Its 35 degrees, wind blowing, dark at 4:30 in the afternoon. Write

The only salvation is a wood stove to back up to with a big bowl of tater soup and cornbread.

I went to the shop to take advantage of the time to create something different from clay, and ended up with a whale with Jonah inside, cause it's Thomas' favorite story right now...whales are easier to make than catfish.

Thomas' mama wanted to build a Noah's Ark, something I have wanted to do since I saw one that Lin Craven built years ago...so I built the Ark and Rebecca is working on the elephants, lions, pigs and whatever. We'll see if it floats.

So you can see it was one of those "nonproductive" days.

My daughter used to say she had to make an appointment with a shrink after a conversation with me in the winter...it's not as bad now I live in Georgia. Gave my down coat to someone who needed one and don't have chains for the car or tractor. Days like this make me reflect on how good I have it in Ga. I'm resisting the urge to call everyone I know in W Va and lie about how warm it is in Danielsville today!

  1. Daddy, I'm not sure your ark is going to float. I just didn't want you to be disappointed when it didn't work. :)
